Two people were killed and three others were hospitalized Saturday morning after a mobile home fire in Murrieta.
The blaze was reported around 4:42 a.m. along Knight Drive and Adams Avenue. Murrieta Fire and Rescue responded to the fire that engulfed a mobile home, a carport, three vehicles, two outbuildings and a large pine tree.
“Firefighters immediately entered emergency rescue mode, initiating an aggressive fire attack while simultaneously searching the structure for trapped residents. Despite these efforts, the building’s structural integrity was rapidly compromised, forcing firefighters to transition to a defensive firefighting operation,” said Murrieta Fire and Rescue.
Five people were inside the residence during the fire, according to the fire department. Two of those people were found dead inside the home, and three others were rushed to a nearby hospital.
Descriptions of the victims were not immediately available.
Multiple household pets were also killed in the fire, according to Murrieta Fire and Rescue.
Firefighters were able to put out the fire in about 45 minutes. Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
