Two family members are dead after a stabbing and police shooting Wednesday morning in Lake Balboa.
Police responded at about 8 a.m. to the 17200 block of West Valerio Street in the San Fernando Valley community. LAPD sources told NBC4 Investigates that the stabbing involved a 40-year-old man who attacked his 62-year-old father.
Officers opened fire, striking the attacker, authorities said. Both men died at the scene.
Details about what led to the attack were not immediately available.
At a news conference later Wednesday morning, police said the original call indicated the adult son was assaulting the father. It was not immediately clear whether police had previously responded to the residence.
No officers were injured.
