Authorities sought the public’s assistance today in locating three men connected to a fatal shooting that occurred in Norwalk as the victim was returning to his vehicle following a business transaction at a
check-cashing establishment.
Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched on Monday to the 14000 block of Pioneer Boulevard to reports of shots fired, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The victim was found lying in front of the business, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and took the victim to a hospital, where he died.
The man’s name was being withheld pending notification of relatives. Sheriff’s officials said that as the victim exited the check-cashing business, he was approached by three male suspects near his vehicle, who robbed the man and tried to steal his vehicle.
The victim resisted, prompting one of the suspects to fire a round at him before fleeing the scene on foot, heading westbound on Pioneer Boulevard.
Anyone with information regarding the deadly shooting was urged to contact the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
