Two Holiday Celebrations, full of meaning, will welcome the season in Altadena and Pacific Palisades as the communities join together in the name of hope and holiday spirit. Altadena’s famous Christmas Tree Lane will again be filled with color and wonder beginning Dec. 6 — a Lighting Ceremony and Winterfest, an Arts & Crafts Festival, will add cheer — while Palisades Village will also host its tree lighting on Dec. 6. Do note that the Pacific Palisades destination remains closed following the January fires, and some of the Altadena attraction’s trees were impacted.
Visit a whimsical “Winter Wonderland”: Endearing experiences have a way of elevating our December, and this delightful production out-endears just about every cute, cozy, and cheerful event in the region. The reason is apparent: The Bob Baker Marionettes are the stars of this holiday-inspired revue, with characters like Demitrius Nova Twinklestar III at the lively lead. Wurlitzer music, talented puppeteers, and complimentary ice cream after the show add to the endearment factor.
South Lake Avenue Holidayfest: This shop- and restaurant-lined thoroughfare has been beckoning Pasadena shoppers for well over a half century, but on a special Saturday near the start of December each year? South Lake Avenue goes fully festive, with live music, strolling characters, in-store deals, an artisan market and other convivial perks and pleasures. The date is Dec. 6 and no ticket is required; simply show and stroll and soak in the Lake.
Christmas on the Farm: Moorpark’s Underwood Family Farms has entered its merriest stretch, meaning visitors will find all sorts of seasonal activities and sights festooning the outdoorsy property. Pursuits include the Cookie Toss, Elf Training, and Holiday Arts & Crafts; real reindeer will visit the farm later in December, so be sure to get the dates and details for these august engagements.
“Merry Melrose” begins: The Melrose Trading Post brims with intriguing vintage discoveries during every season of the year, but over a few December Sundays, starting Dec. 7, the thrift-tastic, art-lovely marketplace will take on a merry mantle. A toy drive, live caroling, and other convivial additions will pop up at the MTP over the next few Sundays, so check the roster to make sure your visit is timed with whatever tempts you most.
