Amtrak experienced technical issues Monday due to the Amazon Web Services outage on Monday, the railroad company said.
The company warned customers that its care center and in-person staff could not update travelers’ reservations or accept payments as of Monday afternoon.
It also said tickets could not be be bought on the service’s website or mobile app.
Text and email communications were also disrupted.
But trains operated normally as travelers were urged to get to their train station as planned.
“We are actively working with our business partner to resolve these problems,” Amtrak said. “If you are traveling today, please arrive at your station at your regularly scheduled time, typically 30 minutes prior to your train’s departure.”
Travelers were encouraged to check the company’s social media for the latest updates.
