Two individuals were arrested near a Brentwood campus Friday, causing outrage among parents after learning the school was placed momentarily on lockdown.

Spencer Pratt, a Palisades parent, took to social media to share his frustration over what happened at Brentwood Science Elementary School.

The LAUSD campus recently made room for students from Palisades Charter Elementary after the school was burned in the Palisades Fire.

Parents tell NBCLA that students were ordered to stay inside classrooms, lock the doors and close the blinds.

The principal of Palisades Charter explained to parents that the lockdown was made “out of an abundance of caution” after two people were found at a property adjacent to the school.

“The safety of our students and our staff remains our top priority. Today, Brentwood Science Elementary School and co-located Palisades Elementary Charter School were placed on a brief lockdown when an unauthorized individual was reported to have entered a building on LAUSD property adjacent to the schools. The building is not on campus and is separated from the campus by a fence. Los Angeles Police and Los Angeles School Police responded, detained two individuals, and ensured there were no additional trespassers on the property. At no point were the individuals on the actual school campus. As a precautionary measure, Los Angeles School Police will be providing additional patrols in and around the school campus,” wrote a Los Angeles Unified spokesperson in a statement to NBCLA.

Parents shared pictures with the NBCLA showing the inside of what is believed to be an abandoned space.

About 100 parents who got a look inside saw drug paraphernalia everywhere and reported that it smelled like urine and meth chemicals, according to Pratt.

Details on the charges the alleged trespassers will face were not immediately available.
