
Firefighters were battling a brush fire that erupted in Riverside County on Wednesday, prompting evacuation orders in the city of Hemet.
The Myers Fire was reported around 1:09 p.m. near Rose Road and Myers Street, according Cal Fire.
As of 3 p.m., the blaze grew to 90 acres, burning in the hillside adjacent to Rancho Viejo Middle School and Tahquitz High School.
An evacuation order was issued for the area south of Fruitvale, east of Eaton, north of Menlo and west of Cawston.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
A reception and care center was opened at Mountain View High School at 1000 N Romana Boulevard in San Jacinto. Animals can be taken to the San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus at 581 S. Grand Avenue.
