
A driver was rushed to the hospital after crashing into a building in Santa Monica, leaving behind debris and extensive damage.
According to the Santa Monica Police Department, a driver crashed into a business on the 2600 block of Santa Monica Boulevard after 11 p.m. Thursday night.
The building was described as a print shop business on the bottom and residential unit on top.
A family lives in the unit on top, but no injuries were reported.
“I heard what sounded like a car moving fast or accelerating incorrectly, then I heard a screech as the car went out of control, then I heard a crash,” said Frank White, who witnessed the crash. “By the time I looked up, the car was going through the building.”
The cause of the crash is still being investigated. It is not yet known if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the incident.
The driver’s condition is unknown.
