
One person is dead and nearly a dozen others were hospitalized following a fiery crash involving a semi-truck in Boyle Heights.
The crash was reported shortly after 5 a.m. on the southbound 5 Freeway in Boyle Heights, according to the California Highway Patrol. There, a semi-truck and eight other vehicles were involved in a crash, which led to one vehicle catching fire.
Fifteen people were medically assessed at the scene by emergency personnel and of those individuals, 10 were taken to the hospital. The severity of their injuries was not disclosed.
CHP did not reveal details on the deceased, such as their identity, gender or possible age.
As a result of the crash, the transition road from the southbound 5 freeway to the westbound 10 Freeway will be closed until further notice.
It’s unclear what caused the crash.
