A large crowd of protesters gathered in downtown Los Angeles Saturday for a demonstration in opposition to the regime in Iran.
The demonstration at its height spanned several blocks. Enormous banners were carried as the group marched on several streets in the area during the permitted demonstration.
Waving flags and carrying one giant banner that read, “Help is on the way,” the demonstrators marched near Los Angeles City Hall. A small aircraft with a banner that urged the public to support Iranian protesters’ cause flew near the march.
Protesters in Iran have denounced theocracy in the country, which prompted its leaders to respond with a deadly crackdown on their demonstrations that have killed thousands of people. Following Iran’s currency’s collapse, the country’s residents have called on change to its regime.
Law enforcement in downtown Los Angeles warned the public of major traffic delays due to several street closures.
