Several pedestrians were injured Sunday afternoon after a vehicle jumped the sidewalk and struck people near a busy intersection in Hollywood, according to the LAPD.

Officers responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian collision at approximately 2:20 p.m. near Cahuenga and Sunset Boulevard.

LAPD says the vehicle was traveling westbound on Sunset Boulevard, lost control for unknown reasons, went up onto the sidewalk and struck pedestrians. The driver then continued driving westbound before officers located the vehicle nearby.

Police requested backup from additional units while responding to the incident.

Authorities said all injuries were minor, with the most serious being a fractured leg.

A short time later, one of the LAPD Hollywood Division units responding to the backup request was involved in a separate collision near Sunset Boulevard and Wilcox Street. An officer was injured in that crash, though the injury was described as minor.

The driver involved in the original sidewalk collision was taken into custody and arrested on multiple charges, though LAPD said the driver was not under the influence.
