A man is in custody after allegedly fatally stabbing one person and injuring another in Long Beach, authorities said

Officers arrived at a residence in the 1300 block of Temple Avenue at 10:38 a.m. on October 4 after responding to a fire call, the Long Beach Police Department said in a statement.

Upon arrival, officers found two adult men with stab wounds to their upper bodies. One of the victims was pronounced dead, while the other victim was taken to a hospital and listed in stable condition, according to the Long Beach Fire Department.

The suspect was identified as Alejandro Iniestra, 34, of Long Beach. He was arrested at the scene and charged with murder and attempted murder. Bail has been set at $2,000,000.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the victims and Iniestra were roommates. For unknown reasons, Iniestra allegedly assaulted one of the victims and then the other.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
