For a fortnight, there Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were — secretly engaged.

While the pair announced their engagement Aug. 26, the Kansas City Chief tight end actually got down on one knee two weeks ago, according to his father Ed Kelce, who shared all the details behind Travis’ proposal to the “Love Story” singer.

“Travis actually did the proposal maybe two weeks — not quite two weeks ago,” Ed told ABC News 5 Cleveland, joking that Swift “was getting maybe a little antsy.”

Ed Kelce — who also shares Jason Kelce with ex wife Donna Kelce — explained that Travis Kelce was thinking of putting it off in order “to make some grand thing, to make it a big special event.”

But as Ed Kelce, and even Swift’s own father Scott Swift told him, “You know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event.”

And what a special event it was, with Travis Kelce, 35, asking Swift, also 35, to marry him at a garden in Lee’s Summit, Mo.

“He got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, ‘Let’s go out and have a glass of wine,’” Ed Kelce continued. “They got out there, and that’s when he asked her, and it was beautiful.”

The couple quickly started FaceTiming all their close family members to share the exciting news, with Ed Kelce getting a call while at the Philadelphia Eagles’ public practice on Aug. 10 — three days before Swift’s “New Heights” podcast episode dropped.

“As soon as I saw the FaceTime, I saw it was Travis,” he recalled, “and then I saw Taylor there with him, I knew what they were going to say, and they let us know.”

And Ed Kelce already feels his future daughter-in-law belongs in the family, telling the outlet that he’s never seen Travis Kelce happier, especially amid the engagement celebrations, which included a family dinner on Aug. 24.

“We actually went to a thing in [Kansas City] Sunday night, which was an ESPN airing of ‘The Kingdom,’” Ed Kelce said, noting that he and Donna Kelce went back to Swift and Travis Kelce’a home where the “Karma” singer made them “a wonderful dinner.”

Ed Kelce continued, “To just watch the two of them, just crazy about each other. It’s truly kinda neat. They’re just two young people very much in love.”

And that love was certainly radiating from the photos Swift and Travis Kelce shared of their engagement to Instagram Aug. 26, which featured the couple posing in a garden of pink and white flowers, alongside a pic of the “Enchanted” singer’s diamond engagement ring.

The duo captioned the Instagram carousel, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

During a meeting with his Cabinet, President Donald Trump was asked to respond to news of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s engagement to popstar Taylor Swift, who Trump previously said he “hates.”
