
LAPD officers were chasing a possible stolen ambulance Friday in the San Fernando Valley.
The ambulance was traveling northbound on the 14 Freeway towards Palmdale. Due to weather restrictions, NewsChopper4 was unable to continue tracking the chase.
The ambulance was stolen at the scene of an incident, according to LA City Fire. Details on how the pursuit suspect stole the first responder’s vehicle were not immediately available.
Several LAPD squad cars were trailing the ambulance that was driving with the emergency lights on. No one was inside the ambulance during the pursuit, according to authorities.
The California Highway Patrol took over the chase and was able get the pursuit suspect into custody after using a spike strip to disable the emergency vehicle.
