Chloe Kim, who made history at age 17 after becoming the youngest woman to win an Olympic snowboard medal in 2018, is eyeing a three-peat at the Milan Cortina Olympics — something no halfpipe snowboarder has ever done before.

It’s no surprise the Torrance native is fearless and feisty given that she is the only woman to ever land back-to-back 1080-degree spins in the halfpipe, which is 22 feet high, at the Olympics.

“Fun, painful and rewarding,” Kim said when asked to describe her sport. “Being on top of the mountain on a bluebird day is genuinely one of the most surreal views ever.”

For the 25-year-old, a trip to Milan is part business, part indulgence.

“I want to land my run. I want to land a bunch of different runs and see how that does. But I also really want to eat pasta and pizza, and I want to go shopping,” she said as the fashionista was showing off her red Givency Shark Lock boots to go with her gray blazer.

Kim, a trailblazer in her sport, appeared unbothered when she spoke with NBC Los Angeles before she flew out to Milan.

“I’m kind of just here for the vibes,” said the Olympian, adding that she genuinely loves being a professional snowboarder and being part of Team USA. “I’m really good at this, so hell yeah, let’s go.”

Kim said she knows the next generation is watching her. Bea Kim, a newcomer in halfpipe snowboarding, has said she looked up to the two-time Olympic gold medalist.

“I think being able to inspire the next generation and show them that anything is truly possible is pretty cool,” she said.
