A man and a woman were arrested in connection with a deadly shooting, which may have stemmed from an attempted robbery, at a Culver City mall, police announced Wednesday.

A 25-year-old was killed after suffering from multiple gunshot wounds last Friday. The man, who was later identified as Angel Torres of Los Angeles, was shot as he tried to rob someone at the Westfield Culver City mall, according to police.

“The suspect confronted additional involved parties in the parking lot armed with a gun, which resulted in an exchange of gunfire,” the Culver City Police Department said about Torres in a statement.

After the robbery suspect was found in the north parking lot of the mall, he was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Another man linked to the attempted robbery and shooting was later located at a hospital, according to police. Kejaun Griggs, who was found with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds,

The 27-year-old was behind held on $4.2 million bail after being arrested on suspicion of murder, two counts of
attempted murder, robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery following an extensive investigation, according to police.

A female suspect, Kelsi Ann Taplette, was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery and being accessory after the fact and was held on $50,000 bail, police said.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims in the incident.
