
A man was hospitalized Sunday after being struck by deputy gunfire in the South Los Angeles neighborhood of Avocado Heights.
The man was shot around 5:50 p.m. near a Jack in the Box restaurant along Workman Mill Road, according to the LA County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies rendered aid to the man before he was transported to a hospital in unknown condition.
Details on what led up to the shooting were not immediately available. It’s unclear what prompted the gunfire.
NewsChopper4 was over the scene of the shooting, which showed investigators looking at several gunshot holes in the exterior of the fast food restaurant.
No deputies were injured in the shooting.
The incident is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau and Internal Affairs Bureau.
