Security camera and cellphone video captured frightening moments for a woman and her teen daughter when they were attacked near an Anaheim bus stop.
The security camera video shows the mother and daughter walking away from the bus stop near the corner Lincoln Boulevard and East Street Tuesday at about noon when they were attacked by a man whom police said attempted to sexually assault them.
In the video, the man carrying a bag can be seen crossing a street as the woman and girl are walking on a median under an overpass. Video shows the woman and her daughter cross to the other side of the street followed by the man.
“He was telling me to go up on he hill with him,” the teen girl said. “I understood what he was trying to say. I told him, ‘No, I’m ok.’ He stopped me from walking. He went in front of me. He grabbed both my arms. My mom saw this, and she pulled him away from me. That’s when he started telling us stuff and attacking my mom.”
The woman suffered a scraped knee and finger injuries when she was pushed to the ground, but she managed to record video of the man that showed his face, police said. In the cellphone video, the man can be heard making sexually explicit threats in Spanish.
The recording helped police make an arrest about two hours later, not far from the location of the attack.
“We took the photo and used facial recognition working the case,” said Sgt. Matthew Sutter.
The mother and daughter said they are thankful for a witness who answered their calls for help. The woman driving a white SUV stopped to give the victims a ride to safety.
“I felt like that was going to be my last day,” the girl said. “I want to thank her for what she did. She’s an angel.”
The suspect was identified as 59-year-old Jose G. Gudinosanabria. He was charged with four felony counts of kidnapping and intent to commit sexual assault. Arraignment was scheduled for later this month.
