
An off-duty officer with the Los Angeles Police Department was killed in a solo-vehicle crash in Santa Clarita early Saturday, according to the LAPD.
The crash occurred at approximately 2:20 a.m. on Cinema Drive and Bouquet Canyon Road when the officer crashed into a light pole, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department confirmed.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene where they found the vehicle engulfed in flames, a Santa Clarita Valley Station watch commander told City News Service.
Video footage showed the vehicle sustained substantial damage and was destroyed in the fire.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel.
It was not clear what led to the crash.
