A gorilla couple at the Los Angeles Zoo may be busier than ever after their second baby was born last month.

The latest gorilla baby, whose gender and name have yet to be announced, was born between mother, N’djia (31) and Kelly (38) on Saturday Nov. 22, zoo officials announced Tuesday.

“N’djia and her infant have been safely bonding behind the scenes and are now on exhibit at Campo Gorilla Reserve, joining the rest of their family troop,” the zoo said in a statement.

The gorilla couple had their first offspring, Angela, five years ago.

The zoo officials said 2025 has been an “exciting year” as they welcomed five apes within a four-month period.

In August, a 35-year-old chimpanzee gave birth to her third baby. Two weeks later, another chimpanzee, 18, became a mother with the birth of her first infant.

Then in October, a new Bornean orangutan was born for the first time in nearly 15 at the LA Zoo. The baby boy is bonding well with his mother at Red Ape Rain Forest, according to the zoo.

Also in November, a chimpanzee infant came into the world, becoming an experienced chimpanzee mother’s third child.

“Each of these successful great ape births at the Zoo this year are a testament to the high level of care and wellbeing our team provides,” said Dominick Dorsa II, animal care director with the zoo. “I am so excited for the staff and for our guests to have the opportunity to see all of these new infants as they mature and the troops exhibit new behaviors.”
