Authorities will be on the lookout for those driving under the influence while celebrating Super Bowl Sunday.

The Los Angeles Police Department, the LA County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol are all planning to increase their patrols and beef up their presence across the Los Angeles region this weekend.

“Super Bowl Sunday brings excitement, energy and visitors from across the country,” said CHP Commissioner Sean Duryee. “Our goal is to keep California’s roads safe, and we will actively enforce laws against unsafe and
reckless driving. At the end of the day, the real winner is the one who makes it home safely.”

Options abound for getting around without driving drunk, but law enforcement officials advise making a plan for safe transportation before the partying starts.
