A man previously arrested for inappropriate behavior was taken into custody once again after allegedly sniffing a woman’s behind inside a Walgreens store in Burbank, authorities told NBC4 on Friday.
Burbank police told NBC4 that 38-year-old Calese Crowder, also known by officers as the “Butt Sniffer,” was recognized by store employees who reported the incident shortly before 11 p.m.
Officers responded to the scene, spoke with the victim, and took a report.
Law enforcement sources said they knew where to locate Crowder and arrested him nearby without incident.
Crowder had previously been arrested in Burbank on July 22 in connection with similar behavior.
That incident took place at the Nordstrom Rack located at 1601 N. Victory Place, following reports of a suspicious individual roaming through the women’s department and sexually harassing a female customer, according to the Burbank Police Department.
“Using the store’s surveillance system, officers monitored the suspect as he moved through various departments. While in the women’s section, the suspect was observed following a female customer, crouching near her, and engaging in lewd behavior by inappropriately sniffing her buttocks,” police said in a statement regarding the incident that took place in July.
Crowder, a registered sex offender currently on parole, has a history of similar offenses in Glendale and Burbank dating back to 2021, according to police.
Anyone with information regarding the case or individuals who believe Crowder may have victimized them was urged to contact the Burbank Police Department’s Investigations Division at 818-238-3210.
