Long Beach police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred near the late rapper Nipsey Hussle’s restaurant, which was holding its grand opening at the time, authorities said Sunday
The shooting, involving multiple victims, was reported around 3:32 p.m. on the 200 block of Pine Avenue, the Long Beach Police Department said. Authorities confirmed this evening that one person died due to their injuries.
The incident happened during the opening of Marathon Burger, a fast-food chain founded by Hussle and his family.
Samiel Asghedom, Hussle’s brother, developed the restaurant to continue his brother’s legacy, vision and the Marathon brand after Hussle was shot and killed in 2019.
The restaurant is known for its gourmet smash burgers, which feature a special secret sauce.
Authorities have not released a motive for the shooting, and details on the suspect have not been disclosed.
An investigation is ongoing.
