Police arrested a 34-year-old man accused of stabbing and killing another man in Riverside earlier this week, law enforcement announced Sunday.
John Larry Perryman, 34, of Riverside, was arrested in connection with the stabbing death of 35-year-old Julian Hughes of Moreno Valley, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said. Police said the violence was reported Tuesday afternoon near University Avenue and Main Street.
At the scene, police found Hughes suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died of his injuries.
Law enforcement identified Perryman as the suspect in the case and arrested him within two hours of the attack, thanks to the help of other city entities. He’s been booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center, where he faces a murder charge and is being held without bail.
A possible motive for the attack was not disclosed. It’s unclear what led up to the stabbing.
