Police in Redlands are searching for the driver of a Tesla who injured four people after plowing through a crowd outside a bar over the weekend.
The city said the crash was reported just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday in front of the Underground bar on Citrus Avenue. Officers were called to the scene for a report of a fight that escalated into a hit-and-run and shots fired.
Video from the scene showed a group of people standing in the street outside the bar and a blue Tesla driving toward them. The city said the driver hit four people and lot control of the car, causing it to hit a curb before ultimately taking off westbound on Citrus Avenue.
“We were walking away and the Tesla made its way to the crowd and then all of a sudden, I just see bodies flying everywhere and so I was just in shock,” said Crystal Cherpin, who recorded the video.
The individuals who were hurt sustained major injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital. No one was struck by the gunfire.
Law enforcement described the suspect vehicle as a 2022 blue Tesla. Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact Redlands Police Department Detective Thomas Williams at 909-557-6814.
