Law enforcement in Ventura County believes there may be more victims after a rideshare driver was arrested on suspicion of raping a customer in Camarillo.
Simranjit Singh Sekhon, 35, is accused of sexually assaulting a 21-year-old woman last month, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. Law enforcement described the victim as being “intoxicated and unable to care for herself” at the time.
The driver picked the customer up from Thousand Oaks and drove her to Camarillo, where the purchased ride was completed. After the ride, the victim was unconscious and authorities said Sekhon drove the woman around Camarillo then sexually assaulted her.
Sekhon was arrested Monday and faces a charge of rape of an unconscious victim. He was booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility, with bail set at $500,000. The man is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
Authorities did not disclose which rideshare company the suspect drove for.
The investigation remains underway. Anyone with information on the case or anyone who believes they may be a victim is asked to contact Detective Mitchell Peterson at [email protected] or 805-384-4745.
