A Rolling Hills man was arrested on Friday in connection with the death of his estranged wife, whose body was found down a steep embankment in a San Bernardino County mountain community last year.
Gordon Abas Goodarzi, 66, faces a murder charge in connection with the death of his estranged wife, 58-year-old Aryan Papoli of Newport Beach, the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office said.
Papoli had gone missing sometime in November of last year, officials said. On Nov. 18, deputies from the Twin Peaks station received a report of a body found about 75 feet down an embankment near Crestline Road and Highway 138.
After retrieving the body, officials transported the remains to the coroner’s office, where she remained unidentified for about two weeks. Law enforcement did not reveal a cause of death.
The case was described as a “lengthy investigation” that ultimately led to a murder charge filed against Goodarzi. A possible motive was not disclosed.
The suspect is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday at the San Bernardino Justice Center.
