
A skateboarder was killed Friday night after being struck by a Los Angeles Police Department patrol car in Highland Park.
The crash was reported around 7:19 p.m. near Woodside and Figueroa Boulevard.
A marked police SUV was driving northbound when it struck the man traveling on a skateboard southbound in the center median of Figueroa Boulevard.
Officers were responding to a call for backup for a parolee at large and had their lights on and flashing at the time of the crash, LAPD said.
The victim was described as a male in his 20s to early 30s, according to the LAPD.
