Police Tuesday continued to look for a group of thieves who broke into a Bel Air home last week and got away with the homeowners’ safe.
The Los Angeles Police Department said officers responded to a home on Roscomare Road near Anzio Road last Friday at around 7:30 p.m. about a burglary.
The homeowners, a husband and a wife, told police that four burglars came into their home as an accomplice waited for them in a getaway car outside.
“They came through the side hedges, crawled through and then climbed the side locked gate,” one of the homeowners who declined to be identified told NBC Los Angeles Monday.
Surveillance video footage also appeared to show at least two of the men, dressed in dark clothing, entering the property through the side hedges. Another man, also wearing dark-colored clothes, was seen climbing over the side gate.
The homeowners said the men went into the house by breaking in through a glass door. It took them about seven minutes to steal the safe before taking off, the security video showed.
“Our safe was stolen and they threw items in our laundry hamper,” the homeowners said, adding they are still trying to determine what else was taken.
The LAPD said it’s continuing with the investigation.
