A Catholic school in Long Beach is in disarray after thieves burglarized and ransacked the campus.
Long Beach police said they were called to the 2500 block of Pacific Avenue on Monday for a burglary at a school in which multiple items were taken from the campus. Multiple religious statues at Holy Innocents Catholic School were destroyed and the thieves took off with audio-visual equipment.
“There’s so much damage that has happened,” said Cyril Cruz, the school’s principal. “I think the part that really sticks out is the damage that’s done to a lot of the religious articles. We had a blessed mother statue that’s been here since 1958 since the school started.”
A detailed description of the thieves involved in the crime was not available. Law enforcement in Long Beach said their investigation into the case is in the early stages and no arrests have been made in connection with the break-in.
