Showers and thunderstorms are heading toward Los Angeles County and other parts of Southern California Tuesday morning, bringing the possibility of strong winds, lightning, brief downpours and rapidly spread wildfires.

The storm threat comes at the start of a hot and humid day with temperatures well into the 90s and triple digits for some areas. Heat advisories remain in place for inland Orange county, the San Bernardino and Riverside county valleys, and parts of Los Angeles county.

A flood advisory was in effect early Tuesday for San Bernardino County. The advisory, in effect until 9:44 a.m., includes the Big Bear area.

At about 7:30 a.m., a line of showers and thunderstorms moving northwest was expected to reach Los Angeles County by 9 a.m. Tuesday brings an increased risk of thunderstorms for the San Gabriel Mountain and Antelope Valley in northern LA County. Flash flooding and debris flows are possible, including near the September 2024 Bridge Fire burn area in Angeles National Forest.

A slight cooling trend is expected beginning Thursday with temperatures likely dropping around 5 to 7 degrees the following weekend.

There will be a chance for thunderstorms in the San Gabriel mountains. Lauren Coronado reports for the NBC4 News at 6 a.m. on Sept. 2, 2025.
