At least one person was hospitalized after a driver slammed into a row of parked cars in South Whittier.

The crash was reported Saturday on Myer Road, just north of Imperial Highway, according to the California Highway Patrol. There, a utility truck hit seven cars that were parked in the area.

In one instance, one of the vehicles had flipped onto its side.

A witness said several people ran to hold the truck driver down, but he got up, ran to a bridge and fell into a concrete canal. The severity of his injuries in the fall was not clear.

It’s unclear what caused the utility truck to hit the other vehicles. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
