Several Las Virgines Unified campuses were momentarily placed under lockdown Friday while police say they were searching for a man suspected of making threats at the schools in the area.
Authorities received a call around 2:26 p.m. from a father who alerted police about his son, who took his car without authorization and made threats to hurt children, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
Three Ventura County schools were placed on lockdown as the search for the man ensued with the help of the LA County Sheriff’s Department, which was notified of the suspect.
Deputies located the man, identified as 32-year-old Michael Weismann, in Agoura Hills inside the reported vehicle. Weisman did not immediately cooperate with deputies but was eventually taken into custody, according to the LASD.
Weisman was transferred to the custody of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and is being booked for multiple counts of criminal threats and disrupting school activities.
No injuries were reported.
The Las Virgenes Unified School District did not immediately respond to the request for comment.
