The Dodgers advanced to the National League Championship Series with a win over the Phillies Thursday in an extra-innings pitching duel that ended with a stunning walk-off error.

After clinching the NL Division Series over Philadelphia Thursday with a 2-1 win at Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles is moving on to the NL Championship Series. Game 1 is scheduled for Monday.

What is the NLCS format?

Unlike the three-game wildcard series and five-game NLDS, the NLCS is a full seven-game series. The higher seed hosts Games 1, 2 and, if necessary, 6 and 7 with three games at the lower-seed’s stadium in between. Milwaukee is the No. 1 seed in the National League playoff bracket with the Dodgers at No. 3 and Cubs at No. 4.

What’s happening in the American League?

Toronto secured a spot in the ALCS with a four-game victory over the Yankees, eliminating the Dodgers opponent in last year’s World Series. The Blue Jays will face the Seattle Mariners, who defeated the Detroit Tigers in a 15-inning winner-take-all Game 5.

When is the World Series?

The first game of the world Series is scheduled for Oct. 24 with a potential Halloween night matchup. All game times are yet to be determined.
