Authorities in Fontana arrested a woman who attempted to kidnap a 4-year-old child and assaulted the child’s mother, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said Tuesday.
The investigation began when a deputy from the Fontana station responded to a 911 call at around 6 p.m. Sunday.
When the deputy arrived at the scene, he discovered a man and a woman, who were later identified as the parents of a 4-year-old child, holding down an “erratic” woman on the ground.
The child’s parents told the deputy that the woman tried to kidnap the child and attacked the child’s mother in the face and upper body.
At the time of the arrest, the deputy learned that the female suspect, identified as Sariaha Hannah Lopez, was on parole for assaulting a police officer with a deadly weapon.
After being taken to a hospital for a medical examination, Lopez was transported to West Valley Detention Center and booked for attempted kidnapping, the sheriff’s department said.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact investigators at the Fontana Sheriff’s Station.
