An 18-year-old woman was shot and killed late Friday after she intervened in a fight between her boyfriend and another person on a Metro bus, police said.

The fight broke out inside the bus in Westchester. Details about what led to the fight were not immediately available.

The shooting was reported at about 11 a.m. near Manchester and Belford avenues.

“A bus operator headed eastbound on Metro Bus Line 115 near LAX heard gunshots from the rear of the bus and immediately stopped allowing all passengers to exit,” said Metro spokesman Jose Ubaldo. “One passenger was found injured and transported to a local hospital where they later succumbed to their injuries.”

The woman pulled out her pepper spray to use on theman involved in the fight with her boyfriend when she was shot, City News Service reported.

No arrests were reported early Saturday.
