A vicious assault caught on camera has shaken up a Santa Ana food truck vendor who now fears walking the streets to work.

Investigators are still searching for the woman they say attacked the street vendor near Washington Avenue and Santiago Street on Aug. 9, around 6 p.m.

Video released by the Santa Ana Police Department shows what appears to be the woman hitting the victim multiple times before a bystander intervenes.

“She hit me more than five times, for sure,” said the vendor, who asked to not be identified out of fear for her safety. “She left me two bruises on my left shoulder.”

The street vendor says she has no idea who the attacker is and why she was the target of the assault.

“I don’t know what was going through her head. I don’t know if she was on drugs. I don’t know what gave her the motive, but she did assault me, and I tried to ask her what was the reason,” said the food truck vendor. “She didn’t give me a reason, and I was in shock, so I didn’t fight back. I just thought I have to protect myself.”

The victim says she’s now scared to walk to work and feels the need to “carry some type of safety” with her.

Anyone with information on the attack is urged to contact the Santa Ana Police Department.
